Stephen Slifer is a seasoned economist with over four decades of experience in economic analysis and forecasting. He currently serves as the Owner and Chief Economist at NumberNomics, an economic consulting firm located in Charleston, South Carolina .
Before establishing NumberNomics, Mr. Slifer held the position of Chief U.S. Economist at Lehman Brothers in New York City from 1980 until his retirement in 2003. In this role, he directed the firm's U.S. economics group and was responsible for the firm's forecasts and analysis of the U.S. economy. Prior to his tenure at Lehman Brothers, he spent a decade as a senior economist at the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve in Washington, D.C., where he focused on forecasting growth in the money supply .
Mr. Slifer has authored two books on economic indicators and their application in forecasting economic activity. He also contributes a regular bi-weekly economics column for the Charleston Regional Business Journal .
