Communications & Donor Relations Coordinator
(Fundraising-Focused | Capital Campaign–Capable)

Position Overview
We are seeking a dynamic, detail-oriented Communications & Donor Relations Coordinator to support Dorchester Seniors’ fundraising and donor engagement efforts. This role is vital in executing donor communications, supporting fundraising campaigns (including capital campaigns), managing donor and sponsorship relations, and representing the organization in donor-focused community engagement activities.
This position plays a key role in shaping donor-facing messaging and engagement while ensuring communications and outreach efforts directly support fundraising goals, stewardship, and organizational growth.
Key Responsibilities: Fundraising & Donor Relations (Primary Focus)
- Support execution of annual, quarterly, and campaign-specific fundraising plans
- Maintain fundraising calendars and track deadlines, deliverables, and follow-up
- Prepare donor acknowledgments, stewardship communications, and donor reports
- Track donations, pledges, sponsorships, and capital campaign commitments in the CRM
- Manage sponsorship tracking, recognition deliverables, and fulfillment timelines
- Assist with donor segmentation and targeted donor communications
- Support fundraising events and donor engagement activities, including coordination and follow-up
Capital Campaign Coordination
- Support implementation and tracking of capital campaign timelines and activities
- Track capital campaign pledges, payments, and fulfillment schedules
- Prepare donor communications and progress updates related to capital campaigns
- Coordinate donor recognition and campaign-related engagement activities
- Maintain accurate records and reports for leadership and board review
Communications & Public Engagement
- Develop donor- and fundraising-focused communications across platforms
- Ensure all communications reflect the organization’s voice, mission, and branding guidelines
- Maintain records of communications activities, donor outreach, and media coverage as applicable
Community Engagement (Fundraising-Oriented)
- Represent the organization at donor-facing and fundraising-related community events
- Coordinate outreach to businesses, civic groups, and partners related to sponsorships and fundraising
- Support public speaking engagements and presentations related to fundraising initiatives
- Collaborate with leadership to strengthen donor and sponsor relationships
Collaboration & Administrative Support
- Collaborate with internal teams to support fundraising and engagement initiatives
- Conduct research to support donor outreach, sponsorships, and fundraising campaigns
- Maintain organized records of donor communications, media materials, and fundraising activities
- Support reporting and preparation for leadership and board committees
Qualifications
Required
- Proven experience in communications, fundraising, public relations, or a related field
- Experience supporting donor relations, fundraising campaigns, or sponsorship engagement
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for donor and community engagement
Preferred
- Experience supporting or coordinating a capital campaign
- Experience with donor databases and fundraising reporting
- Familiarity with nonprofit or human services environments
- Proficiency with digital tools, CRM systems, email platforms, and social media
